Fabrication & Blasting Supervisor
Location: Brakpan, Gauteng
Terms: Full-Time
Salary: R 30 000 – R 35 000 CTC per month
About the Role
The Fabrication and Blasting supervisor is responsible for materials management and stock control ensure products meets Company quality standard and delivered in time. He is also responsible to analyze performance and reconcile material usage.
Responsibilities
Raw Materials Management
- Implement systems and procedures to improve efficiency and productivity in the fabrication process
- Monitor raw material usage by:
- checking scrap rate during nesting process
- sampling finished goods weight
- recording rejects
- Issue sufficient raw materials to avoid production delays
- Analyse production schedules to ensure optimal utilization of resources
- Maintain accurate records of production cut and inventory management
- Provide regular reports to Production Manager regarding performance and productivity
- Reconcile aluminium usage and ensure off-cuts are accounted for and stored
- Recruit, train, and supervise a team of fabrication employees
- Carry out regular checks on available materials for use in production and update Planning Manager and Production Manager on material status
- Do daily raw material stock count
- Do daily and weekly hardox and Ms plate reconciliation and submit weekly report to Production and Operations Manager.
Performance Analysis
- Collate all data recorded during production from job cards, production sheets, quality inspection on a daily basis and verify accuracy of data
- Complete shift performance analysis sheets daily
- Monitor adherence to trimming and packing schedule and report deviation to the Production Supervisor.
- Monitoring mould availability, usage and effectiveness.
- All aspects of the planning function including, but not limited to mould performance monitoring, dispatch tracking and data capture
Reporting
- Weekly material usage reports to Production and Operation Manager
- Weekly report on weight of spew, off cuts and rejects to Production and Operation Manager
- Update on operator performance statistics weekly to Production Manager
HEQ Responsibilities
- Comply fully with Section 14 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act: General duties of employees at work
- It is your responsibility to ensure that you are familiar with the above section. A copy can be requested from the OHS Officer. Copies of the act are also available electronically on the Company’s home page. Summaries of the act are displayed throughout all departments in the Company
- You are further required to comply with all requirements of the Company’s quality management system applicable to your position and activities
Candidate Requirements
Experience, Skill and Qualification
- NQF Level 5/6 in Engineering or a related field/
- B Tech Mechanical
- 3+ years of experience in the fabrication industry
- 2 years of experience in Production Planning/Supervisor
- 2 years of experience in Process flow and resource allocation
- Microsoft Office 2007 and SAP
- Production Planning qualification or experience
- Thorough understanding of mechanical drawings
- Good at Autocad and Excel
- Knowledge of SAP would be advantage
- Knowledge of welding and cutting process, hand tools, blasting.
- Knowledge of TQM / 5S / QC tools would be advantage.
