The Truth About HR and Company Culture: A Personal Reflection
There’s a statement that’s been circulating online, and it’s uncomfortable to hear: “HR is not your friend.” — Leila Hormozi At first glance, it sounds harsh.
Maintaining a healthy work-life balance is key to improving employee well-being and productivity. Here are a few simple practices to consider for 2025 for a balanced lifestyle in the workplace.
Offering flexible work schedules allows employees to manage their time better, making balancing personal commitments and work responsibilities easier. This helps reduce stress and improves job satisfaction. In some cases, this improves productivity as employees focus more on getting something done rather than just sticking to the traditional 9-5 working hours.
Encouraging regular breaks throughout the workday helps employees recharge and maintain focus. A quick walk or a few minutes away from the desk can refresh the mind and boost productivity. Some companies even offer a place to exercise or even take a power nap. Although this might be too much for some to implement, it is about creating a moment for employees to disconnect to help improve productivity and creativity throughout the day.
Ensure employees understand when work should start and stop. Discourage after-hours emails and work-related tasks so employees can fully enjoy their personal time. Clear communication is key, especially when considering flexible work hours. Is it not about the time employees are expected to work but rather the task that they are expected to complete by a certain time. Setting clear boundaries gives employees flexibility with structure.
Allowing employees to work from home or other remote locations can help them better balance work with family or personal needs, leading to greater happiness and engagement.
Offer wellness programmes, mental health days, or stress management workshops to help employees manage their well-being effectively.
Promoting work-life balance can create a more positive and productive work environment. A company’s people shape its success and directly influence its overall performance. So, keeping your employees in mind with these new business practices for 2025 can increase your bottom line and create a positive company culture.
