Location: Areas including (but not limited to) Western limb mines in the Rustenburg, Brits, and Hartbeespoort areas.

Terms: Full-time, permanent

Salary: R50,000 – R 60,000 per month CTC (Depending on qualifications and experience)

Other benefits include medical aid, a provider fund, cell phone allowance, a company vehicle, and a fuel card.

Through collaboration with the client and its international partners, the company’s engineers offer comprehensive, tailor-made solutions with their constantly expanding suite of mechanised mining equipment and their full range of well-established support services. The company has a range of trackless mobile machines (TMMs) designed and manufactured locally in Boksburg, South Africa. These machines include low-profile and narrow vein loaders predominantly for smaller mining applications.

About the Role

A business development manager works in strategic planning, sales management, and prospecting for new clients to help grow an organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Management of Key customer relationships
  • Developing solutions to solve their mining production and safety problems by profitably selling the company’s capital equipment and service products fit for their purpose.
  • To ensure all aspects of customer relationships are maintained in good order through continual interaction, relationships and network building by solving queries, operational issues and product support.
  • To commit to, develop, grow and achieve established sales targets, understand the customer buying cycles and forecast future sales.
  • Thoroughly and confidently, know and sell the products, their application and changing market-driven technologies.
  • Agree to and accept the executive responsibility with accountability for allocated key customer relationships and maintaining effective and reliable long-term relations.
  • Successfully achieve established sales targets and goals, including margins, with accurate achievable forecasts.
  • Assume the lead project management role in developing and managing service and product support interventions, including product trials, performance tests, etc.
  • Know the products thoroughly, their applications, features, and benefits to develop sound value propositions.
  • Commit to and take responsibility for ensuring aftermarket product support with each Key customer, attend regular engineering meetings and become involved in the project management of service and aftermarket support initiatives and approved sales strategies.
  • Visit underground operations to review the products in operation, determine customer satisfaction and production performance according to their expectations, and offer solutions for improvement and future innovation.
  • Identify and rapidly respond to business opportunities that align with our strategies, goals and objectives.
  • Develop and build a network of customers and others that provides accurate and meaningful market information and statistics.
  • Learn and fully understand how the customers’ business functions, where the weaknesses and threats are, and what potential opportunities are.
  • Optimise existing sales and pursue new sales opportunities
  • Monitor customer base and seek new profitable sales opportunities.
  • Study site conditions, published reports and information, mineral product demand and pricing, and other information to understand the customers’ business dynamics.
  • Respond rapidly to market demand, new opportunities, VMI, consignment stock, store establishment, and controls. Take initiative and drive to completion.
  • Understand opposition pricing, relationships, sales and service practices, and any advantages they offer over our goods and services, such as pricing, delivery time, quality, availability, etc.
  • Develop an opposition database and SWOT analysis of the business for discussion and counter-strategy initiatives.
  • Understand each customer’s buying cycle, opex and capex budgets, and purchasing triggers for potential business opportunities.
  • Understand the sales demand from each customer by product line.
  • Manage all your customer debt and outstanding debtors on a monthly basis.
  • Institute audit processes and advise customers on maintenance best practices and repair kits to optimise machine performance.
  • Adhere and administer the company warranty procedure

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant trade
  • Technical knowledge combined with sales skills
  • Minimum 3 years experience in the Mining Industry
  • Knowledge of capital equipment sales, mobile machinery techniques, their mining application and commercial competence
  • Mining industry experience is non-negotiable
  • Capital sales experience is essential
