Business Development & Sales Manager – Geospatial & Drone Services


Location: HQ – Woodstock (Cape Town) – Hybrid

Terms: Full-Time

Salary: R500,000 per annum, with the potential for bonuses up to 150% of the base salary based on performance.

About the Role

We’re on the lookout for an experienced and technically proficient Business Development & Sales Manager to lead our sales efforts and drive business growth. This role is not just about selling drone services—it’s about understanding the core value of geospatial data and how it can be leveraged to improve business outcomes across industries. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical foundation, the ability to grasp complex project deliverables, and a knack for translating this into tangible value for clients.

This is a sales-focused position where you will be responsible for bringing in new business, developing sales strategies, and closing deals that align with the company’s long-term vision. The candidate should be an experienced negotiator and deal-maker, capable of structuring contracts that are both economically viable and strategically sound. You will be instrumental in formalising service offerings, securing long-term contracts, and developing new markets. Working closely with our multidisciplinary team, you’ll ensure our commercial strategy is aligned with our vision of becoming the largest drone service provider in Africa. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive business development and sales strategies to drive revenue growth and increase market share in existing and new sectors.
  • Identify and engage potential clients, building and maintaining strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders in private and government sectors.
  • Conduct in-depth research to identify new market opportunities and understand industry trends, customer needs, and competitive dynamics.
  • Work with the team to translate complex technical concepts into compelling sales pitches, presentations, and proposals.
  • Lead the full sales cycle, from lead generation and initial contact through to deal negotiation and closing.
  • Negotiate and structure deals, ensuring contracts are economically viable and aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Develop and optimise CRM systems, sales processes, and workflow templates for different industries.
  • Regularly engage with project and technical teams to ensure seamless project execution and delivery.
  • Provide feedback and after-sales support to clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Lead tender and project proposal submissions, coordinating inputs across teams to deliver winning submissions.
  • Report directly to the CEO, presenting data-driven insights and progress updates on business development and sales activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Business, or a related field.
  • Advanced degrees such as an MBA or MSc in a technical field are highly valued.
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or partnerships, ideally in a technical field.
  • Experience working with geospatial data or in industries such as agriculture, energy, or environment is advantageous.
  • Experience within the RPAS (Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems)/drone sector is highly advantageous.
  • Proven track record of structuring and closing significant transactions with private and government entities.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and drive strategic outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex technical concepts and translate them into clear business value propositions.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with project budgeting, pricing, and revenue modelling.
  • High level of adaptability and willingness to engage across multiple sectors.
